For more than four decades, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has been an important tool for communities to engage in proposed projects that could impact them; whether it is a construction of a bridge, a pipeline, a freeway, a rail yard, or port expansion. When NEPA is utilized it requires public participation, studying project impacts and identifying alternatives to proposed projects, all of which are important for making well-informed decisions.
Make no mistake. This is one of the most severe attacks on our environment, public health, and right to public participation we have seen from the Trump administration.
